Wilmington High School

DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I am extremely proud of all the students in this production.  The dedication of the cast, crew, and production staff has been remarkable, and something that is evident in what you see on the stage today.  A truly successful production however, involves more than what is presented on this stage.  I am especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, and the teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone involved with this production.

Transitions can often be challenging, and being new in this position I didn't know what to expect.  I feel so fortunate to be working with such a kind, generous community, and I'd like to thank the students, staff, and parents of Wilmington for welcoming me with open arms.  This production has been a learning experience for all of us, myself included, and I believe it has been a truly successful one.

This show is about so much more than a blonde sorority girl getting into Harvard to win back her man, it is about acceptance, and having the courage to pick yourself back up again when you fall.  I believe Elle says it best, "Thank you...the ones who thought I'd fall, who taught me how to fail, who helped me to prevail. I'm standing here today because you helped me find my way." This is such an important life lesson, and I hope when you leave today you take a little part of that courage Elle shows us on her journey to find her way.

It has been a true honor to be a part of this theatrical journey with all of the students involved with this production.  Their endless dedication and efforts have made this production what it is and you will now become part of it as soon as the music begins and the curtain goes up.

Enjoy the show!
