DIRECTOR'S NOTE
The first time I watched Frozen was during the polar vortex, in a very tiny movie theater getting colder by the minute. We all sat up in the balcony around a space heater. TEN years later, I'm directing Frozen, JR. during another winter. It's hard to believe that our students grew up on this musical. You've been singing "Do you want to Build a Snowman" in the shower for years. Now here you are, bringing a little bit of you to your performance! As I write this, our show is still a little bit of a fixer upper, but I'd like to thank a few people for making it possible:
Uly - Thanks for the dedication you have to this theater department. Your love is an open door that I'm so happy I walked through! I really appreciate the way you model care and concern for every student, and I'm so glad I'm part of the WKMS theater team.
Brenda & Brooke - It's dangerous to dream for great choreographers, but you are the DREAM team! Thanks for putting in all the hours and even more enthusiasm. You always bring great ideas and...CHOCOLATE!
Naomi - For a first joik, you're doing a wonderful job. I'm so glad you could join us on this journey. Thank you for bringing joy and high expectations!
WKMS Administration & Custodial Staff - You let the sun shine on in this school, even in summer! I'm so grateful we have your support. Shout out to Beth Lindstrom, Mary Anderson, Maria Palma, Chris Latin & Saul Gomez for your help this year.
I know our show is going to be a hygge success! Enjoy!
- Ms. Hauver
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR'S NOTE
“Let it goooo! Let it goooo!”....anyone else still singing that song? Jokes aside, Frozen is a show that so many people know, but you wait for the right magic to fall into place before you bring it to the stage. This show is funny and energetic and teaches us about love. On a personal level, this show season has been really difficult due to medical issues that occurred during our show run. I heavily leaned on my partner, Sarah, and was able to recover in peace knowing things were being taken care of with love. I am truly grateful for the creative team I have here at WKMS - Sarah, Brenda, Brooke, Naomi - and for the students and their families that bring their love of theatre and the arts to our program. May love unfreeze the coldest of moments and bring us to a new outlook on the beauty of life that surrounds us and the gifts that live within us.
To my husband, as always, you are my rock. Thank you for your support and willingness to help.
To Sarah, you are amazing. “Thank you” isn’t enough, but thank you.
To my cast and crew, break a leg! As always, let your magic shine and your love fill the stage.
