Dear Friend,
On behalf of the cast and crew of Descendants the Musical, I would like to say thank you for coming to our performance. We know there are many other ways you can spend your free time, but you came to support these students and their passion for theatre!
The main premise behind Descendants is that different can be good, and second chances should be given; no matter where you come from or who you are. Respect should be given to all our fellow human beings, no matter who they are.
When I first saw the Descendants movie, it me cringe because of how cheesy the acting and the overall storyline was. Then, MTI decided to release a musical that combined songs from all three movies, and kept the storyline of the first movie; leaving a rock musical that I absolutely fell in love with, and knew instantly that my students would love as well. One, because many of them grew up watching the movies, and two, because the story and script fall right in line with the middle school mindset and humor.
But one of the biggest reasons I love this show is that it teaches, as King Ben says, that we are all capable of good and bad, no matter where we come from. It all boils down to simple respect fro those around us. We hope you enjoy the lessons, music, and yes, cheesiness of Descendants the musical!
