Disney's Aladdin JR. - October 18 - October 28, 2018

Young Actors' Theatre

 A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

There is nothing like Disney magic to help create a story.  One of the things that I love about the story of Aladdin, is not just that he is one of the few Disney “male” heroes, but also that his character has depth and sincerity.  We can relate to him being a person who is trying to improve himself.  Yet, the simplicity of falling in love at first sight is one that is also classic Disney.  But one of the things that makes Aladdin so special is the music.

The new script that came from the publisher, brought in new characters and music, that we are not familiar with from the original movie.  However, the new characters and music make for a much more well-rounded musical production.  We still have some of the classics, but the new music is just so much fun!!

As a director, there is nothing more fulfilling than working with amazingly talented people.  Matt Ignacio is always a constant force as a music director.  He works efficiently, and really cares about the students in the show, making sure they understand every note and rhythm.  Wilfred Paloma creates more magic on stage than one can even think possible.  Not only is his choreography brilliant, his sense of placement and staging is one that the students really relate to.  Erik Mayuier is a consistent and steady presence as our Stage Manager, always keeping us together on the rehearsal process.  Jess Reed, Mike Hobson, Dena Cable, and all of their committee members are a joy and a blessing to work with.  Every request is met with a happy smile, and willingness to please. A special thank you to our Tech Advisor Team, Jason Tarlov and John Demaree, who keep me grounded on my "wish list"!  It goes without saying that none of this would even be possible without the support of our Executive Director, Kristina Petrea.

This production is truly a joy to be a part of.  I hope you enjoy Aladdin, and may every adventure be only a carpet ride away!!
