A note from the Director:
Welcome to Matilda the Musical - a story that celebrates imagination, resilience, and the quiet power of a young girl who refuses to accept the limits the world places on her.
At its heart, this story is about strength and the belief is possible, even when you're small. That is why I felt so passionate about working on this show, especially with a group of students who constantly amaze me with their strength, determination, kindness, and creativity.
It has been a true joy to direct this group of talented performers in such a powerful story. I count it a privilege to also get to help shape the world through costumes, lights, and set design (along with Ryne), and work with some of my favorite people. I have been involved with YPT for 12 years now, in one way or another, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
A heartfelt thank you to the incredible production team that helps make these shows possible. Thank you to Ryne, who has been a brilliant design partner throughout this process, Suzanne for your musical guidance and caring nature, Abby T for your choreography that brings the stage to life, Abby M for your thoughtful student directing, Kenzie for your dedication to this program, Haylie for your creative marketing, Summer for the costume help, and Hailey for all of the additional support. A special thanks to the student crew members, student choreographers, this impeccable cast, and the parent crews that make all of this possible.
