Darby Patterson has been enthralled with the performing arts ever since she was a young girl; she is overjoyed to be part of this wonderful production. She is playing Martha in Spring Awakening; she has played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and Skimbleshanks in Cats. She is a Minnesinger, and is teaching at Children's Theatre this summer. She will be returning to MVRHS in the fall as a junior.

Jane Dreeben, the Producer, has a day gig as a psychologist.  She has been involved in many creative and performing arts projects over the years on the island, and is now working on a book about creativity and Vineyard life.

Michele Ortlip, the Director, has been a casting director for 25 years for theaters in NY and throughout the country. She cast many independent films, and worked with director Alan J. Pakula on The Pelican Brief, The Devil's Own, and others. Michele co-founded and was artistic director for the Independence Theatre Co. in NJ. She cast Spring Awakening playwright Steven Sater’s prize-winning Perfect for You, Doll.

Eric Johnson, the Music Director, studied Jazz and Classical guitar at NEC.  After a period of immersion in the Boston and NY Jazz scenes he moved to the Vineyard and fathered two beautiful and fascinating daughters with his wife of now 17 years.  He was an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music for seven years and now splits his time between gigs on guitar and double bass, teaching, and running his burgeoning frozen yogurt empire (Tisberry).  He credits his daughter Sydney Johnson as a major influence on his musical development.

Tessa Permar, the Choreographer, is an MVRHS graduate and trained in Israel with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Co.  A drama major and rising senior at Vassar College, Tessa attended the National Theatre Institute/Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center.  She performed in the O’Neill’s 50th Anniversary Gala honoring Meryl Streep.  Upon graduating, Tessa hopes to pursue a career in choreography for the theatre.  She feels immensely grateful.
