Damn, Gina! started as a group of close friends who met through the Second City Training Center and came together simply because we love the art of sketch comedy. Many of us have short attention spans and the sketch medium tends to attract artists with this trait. The scripts are written and introduced to the group by writer/director Andrew McCammon and are workshopped again and again during table reads and the rehearsal process that follows. Every ensemble member is vital to the shaping and production of the revue.
Since 2011, Damn, Gina! has produced seven sketch revues at Chicago theaters such as MCL (formerly Studio BE), Donny's Skybox, iO and Chicago Sketch Fest at Stage 773. We recently returned from Los Angeles after winning the National Sketch Comedy Championships at the ACME Hollywood Theater. We truly believe each production is our strongest to date and we strive to keep moving forward artistically as a sketch troupe and company.
We are very excited to welcome our new members, Michael Gomez and Meghan Murphy. They have stepped into this process full tilt and are perfect fits for our troupe. Big thanks to our incredibly talented production stage manager, Caitlin Boylan. Without her, we would be extremely disorganized and very poorly lit.
Enough gratitude cannot be expressed to Charna Halpern and the iO Theater for giving us the opportunity to showcase our work in such a historic pillar of the comedy community. We are extremely grateful for all of our supporters, many of whom have been with Damn, Gina! since the very beginning. It means a lot. Our hope is that the audience leaves the theater tonight with at least a small amount of the joy we feel on stage every moment of every performance.
