MESSAGE FROM THE PRODUCER:

Dear sir/ma'am,

Hello and welcome to the Boston's inaugural "Hiroshima-Nagasaki Peace Memorial" ceremony on this beautiful Sunday evening on August 6, 2017.

A little background of how this event got conceived…

Last year, I attended "Hiroshima Interfaith Peace Gathering" in New York City, and volunteered alongside my friend from Hiroshima and another friend from Indiana. In the program, both Rev. T Kenjitsu Nakagaki and the performer Shinji Harada both expressed their hopes for this peace movement to be happening in many more cities around the globe. I thought, "I could do that in Boston!" So, here it is.

The intent of this event is to commemorate this historically tragic event, our loved ones who perished in the WWII, moving forward...cultivate inner peace, hope, loving-kindness and compassion.

I hope that we don't have to promote peace, and that we can just live in peace. I hope that we don't have to promote diversity, and that we can just be diverse. I hope that, some day, hopefully soon, we can have One Peaceful World.

Please join us.

Sincerely,

Mariko Kanto
