A Note from writer and Associate Director, Darius V. Daughtry...
I feel honored and humbled to have been commissioned to help bring the life and legacy of such an important icon to the stage. I was raised by amazing black women, and anytime I can honor them in my work, I relish the opportunity.
I thank Queen Esther for speaking through me and allowing me to tell her story. I thank AARLC and all the amazing women who had the vision and fortitude to bring this into reality. I thank our amazing director, Bianca Laverne-Jones, for her brilliance and heart. I honor this amazing cast. And I dedicate this moment to my queen, who has inspired me more than can be put into words, Triccilla L. Brown.
peace + blessings,
Darius
