A Note From the Director:

Exploring the wondrous world of Alice in Wonderland along with 31 third thru seventh graders has been quite an adventure!  Many of the student actors had never been in a fully staged production before which is very exciting.  We first began our journey in September when the show was cast, roles assigned and scripts read.  Throughout October, November, and December we dug into the scripts!  Rehearsals began with team building activities. Forming an ensemble is a very important part of the rehearsal process.  Students then began to explore their characters both physically and emotionally- which is quite challenging when rehearsing a play which mostly takes place during a dream!  Students explored all of the fantastical creatures who live in Alice's Wonderland.

Cast members met an hour a week to learn songs, with our talented Musical Director, Nathan Kruman and learn choreography and blocking with Rebecca Lopkin, the Director of BPY's Theater Dept.  After winter break, student rehearsals were extended and Sunday rehearsals were added.

This show represents hours and hours of hard work, dedication and commitment from the student actors (and their parents!- Thank You!).  It has been a joy to watch each and every student grow their theater skills, gain confidence and poise on the stage and truly work as an ensemble to present this show for you!

I look forward to next year's production!

Rebecca Lopkin

Special Thanks!

As the show came together on stage- the set, scenery, costumes and props began to come to life off stage!

  • Many actors and their parents volunteered their time over President's Weekend to paint the scenery, make props and build and paint the set under the guidance of Zachary Kohn, our Resident Master Set Builder and Serene Klapper, our Scenic Designer- both high school students who volunteered their time!  The very talented Morah Stav also lent her paint brush to the backdrop.

  • Catherine Rosalio (BPY Parent) designed and constructed many of the specialty costumes. The remaining costumes are on loan from Camp Maor.

  • Nathan Kruman for his" Patience" and "Very Good Advice" .

  • Lisa Karrer for stepping in last minute to stage manage.

  • Diego and Alex helped out tremendously with the set, setting up of the space, hanging scenery and so much more!

  • Danielle Tamir and Shani Weinstock organized advertising, ticket sales and pizza for the cast.

  • Stacy Goldstein with scheduling and use of the space.

  • Shoshi Ryp for being to flexible and helpful.

  • Yael Rabitz was truly indispensable!  She spearheaded the Playbill Ads, printed flyers for the students, helped organize the concessions, helped to create scenery and props, ordered the Alice costumes, and was always available to offer advice and make a helpful suggestion.

  • Samantha, Neshama, Debra, Shelley, for help on the day of the show!

  • Rav Ronen, Morah Jessica, Mrs. Hirschfeld and Morah Elana for their support of the Theater Department and understanding of just how important the ARTS are in school!

  • PTO for sponsoring the Brand New Sound System!!!

  • Thank you to everyone else who lent a hand of support along the way.
