Black Nativity by Langston Hughes - December 07

 End Notes

"The only way to get a thing done is to start to do it, then keep doing it, and finally you'll finish it" - Langston Hughes

God, I want to take a moment to express my thanks and gratitude to You, for trusting me with Your vision. Lord, I knew absolutly nothing about theatre production or directing, but You afforded me the courage to start, and the resources to finish.  I mean, literally, ZERO clue of how to do ANY of this. But I trusted You and You guided my every footstep, planted seeds of inspiration, wisdom and understanding along the way. When I wanted to give up, I prayed for a word and You sent only one, "FINISH". Father, You are my "Sure Thing" and I thank you immensly for blessing my "yes". Now if You can just bless me with a great job so I can restore my savings,  I promise, I will stop eating potato chips in my bed at 2am.

To my awesome husband, Wayne, thank you for being so wonderful and supportive of this endeavor. I hope I've made you proud, as you make me each day.

To my mother, Virgie Arrindell and Aunt, Ernestine Wilson, for giving me the encouragement and prayers I needed. It's because of you and your involvelment with the Vernon Jones Singers and Black Nativity, WAAAAAY back then, that has been a blessing to me, beyond my own comprehension.  Your love and support is precious to me and I adore you both so very much.

To my children, Angelique, Sterling and Andrew, thank you for being such amazing kids. For stepping up and pitching in where I needed you. You guys are my world- my heart(Angie), my soul(Sterling), my joy(Andrew). Marcus you in there too.

To Uncle Howard Taylor, thank you for agreeing to share this journey with me. For encoraging me to take the reigns and believing in me to get it done. Your testimony and faith are an inspiration.  I will always have a pot of oxtails for you.

To Felicia Andrews, thank you so much for agreeing to be apart of this production.  I hope it inspired you to write and produce again.  I'm here for "The Valley Girl, Reunion".  "Share Your Gifts"-Apple

To Aleta Staton, thank you for being a gracious mentor. Thank you for keeping Black Nativity in New Haven for more than a decade and trusting me with the continuance of its legacy.

To the ENTIRE cast and crew, thank you for volunteering and sharing your amazing gifts and talents.  For saying "yes" when I asked. For enduring the long group messages.  For your commitment and love to this project. You could have done anything else, but you chose this journey with me and I am ever so grateful to you all.  I am extremly proud of this production and everyone who played a part. You all were marvelously, BRAVO! Pray on next year! God bless you all! Have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

All My Love,

Lisa Kellman
