Setting
The play takes place in a suburb of London during the autumn and winter of 1960-61. The main events of the story are true.
Synopsis
Bob and Barbara Jackson are a nice middle-aged English couple. They reside in a suburb of London with their daughter Julie. Their best friends are their Canadian neighbors, Helen, and Peter Kroger. All is blissful in their world until detective Stewart from Scotland Yard asks to use their house as an observation station to try and foil a Soviet spy ring operating in the area. Stewart is accompanied by his two assistants Thelma and Sally who stake out within the Jackson’s residence. The Jacksons become more and more put out as Scotland Yard's demands on them increase. They are really put to the test when the detective reveals that the spies are the Krogers and he asks them to help set a trap. Should they betray their friends? Pack of Lies is based on true events.

Lona Cohen (Helen Kroger) Morris Cohen (Peter Kroger)
Lona and Morris Cohen aka Helen And Peter Kroger are both Americans who spied for the Russians. The Cohen's first official task was to steal developed American weapons for the Soviet Union. Their work did not stop there. Morris developed a secret network that inlisted special agents. This network was referred to as Line X. Line X specialized in technical, scientific, and industrial espionage. Morris was drafted in 1942 which left Lona in charge of Line X. A serious of espionages occurred between the years of 1942-1954. One major highlight was Lona's involvement in leaking critical information involving the Manhattan Project. In 1954 the Cohen's moved to a suburb in London...and this is where our story begins.
