Annie Jr. - April 26 - April 27, 2018

Blankner School

 Director's Notes

From the Directors:

Thank you very much for being here tonight as Blankner Middle School’s Theatre Department presents, Annie, Jr. This is an energetic, enthusiastic, heartwarming show with a meaningful lesson about hope, determination and never giving up on your dreams. Annie teaches us that it is important to be true to yourself, accept and celebrate who you are and that families come in all shapes and sizes.

Tonight is the first time many of these cast members have performed on stage. It honestly has been so thrilling to watch their transformation as they have learned to develop their characters and truly"own" the stage! They have bonded and become close friends while working together and have a genuine respect and compassion for each other. This experience really allowed the cast to become ONE.

A show like this really is a group effort. This production would not have been possible without many people who went above and beyond by giving of their time, resources, and professional expertise. First of all, we are so grateful to our incredible Blankner Foundation for partnering with us on this production and for their continuous, most generous support. This partnership will continue to help the Blankner Theater Department flourish, providing students an enriching, variety of rewarding opportunities. Another big supporter is our fabulous PTSA. We don’t know what we would do without them; this amazing group is ALWAYS there for Blankner students!

A BIG shout out to Sam and Julie Bowyer for their business and organizational expertise and for so graciously helping to raise money for this production. Karen Evans, you are so talented! Thanks for the countless hours you spent on creating such a high-quality, professional Playbill for Annie, Jr. It is such a huge undertaking and we are so appreciative of your creative and technical skills. To Erin Summer, our right hand “lady”, we can’t possibly thank you enough for your amazingly creative insight, vision, and the way you magically take a few materials and transform them into the perfect set, prop, or costume. You’re super talented and we are so lucky to have you on our team!

Thank you to the amazing parents and grandparents for your time and talents in creating the fabulous costumes and set design; we are so thankful for you. To all our generous sponsors, without YOU, this night would not happen; these children would not have the amazing feeling they are about to experience, and who knows where this path may lead them in the future! Thank YOU for giving them this opportunity.
