Bridgeport High School

   Director Notes

So much more that many of you could ever know goes into making a main stage musical production. My job would not be nearly as rewarding without my fellow staff members. Jen Hess thank you for stepping up and stepping in as producer. I love working with you and your time and commitment to this program and these kids is truly remarkable. I know you have students in the program but no one loves these kids as fierce or has the desire to make their show and experience as enjoyable as you do. Thank you. Josh, there is no way we would be able to make music without you. The way you inspire these kids and push them to their fullest potential vocally and musically is beyond comparison. Alicia, I love making art with you. I love your mind and the way we work together. It’s so much fun working with friends and I am proud of our work together. Thank you for your creativity and toughing out the 4 minute and 28 second songs. Rachel, thank you for your work and creativity. Your art with hair and makeup is what brings our show together. But your work backstage guiding the kids and keeping them sane and in check is very important to. I am thankful for you and your dedication to this program. Mary, I am so happy that you joined us this season to help make our show magical. Your knowledge and expertise in lighting and sound are just what we needed to make our show amazing. Thank you for mentoring students and bringing our show to the next level. Tim and Suzy Cotter, words cannot express the gratitude I have for your support to our program. Your work with the publicity of our shows is extremely valuable to me and the students. And Jared, I am so glad you could design for this show. One of my favorite things to do is get up and go to work with my brother. I think we make a wonderful team and we make great works of art on stage together. The way you bring the magic to shows and the way you teach and inspire these kids is incredible to me. I love you and I am so proud of you. Thank you all for what you have helped me to accomplish and bring to life on this stage.

So many things could not be possible without the help of a great support team. In addition to a fantastic staff our program has been blessed with some fantastic parents who are willing to help out in any way possible. All of our parents involved in this production have been amazing. Thank you to the parents of all the cast and crew. Your support and encouragement have guided us through.

What a joy it has been to put together Elf the Musical with this senior class. These students have made this experience rewarding because they are all sparkle jolly twinkle jingly. My crew kids, you have done some great work. Coming in to the show in the final hour and creating the magic is part of what makes theater so amazing and you all rocked it. First and Fourth block theater classes, thank you for you work on this show. To you it might just be a grade but for us it is the grease that makes our wheels turn. Thank you for all that you have done to put this show on its feet, but most importantly thank you for not groaning every time I showed up to your class and put you to work.

Besides the actors there is another group of kids that deserve a shout out to for their works in this show. The underclassmen that wish so hard for these seniors to have the best experience of their senior year that they give up just as many evenings and weekends to do work on this show. Wesley, your hard work and determination as my Stage Manager to put this show together have been invaluable. Ava, your work as assistant music director is astounding. Thank you for helping us get through rehearsals and keeping us on track and in harmony. Maizze, you did a wonderful job as assistant choreographer. I appreciate your hard work, and your creativity. Kailea and Hannah thank you so much for your work as assistant directors. You both have been amazing, it’s not easy to be my assistants and that is true to the fact that I need two of you. Your dedication to this show and this program is very meaningful to me.

I cannot thank the five of you enough, you are the dream team, you lead and inspire, and you work so hard. You truly are amazing and your talents are beyond compare.

Finally, I hope you the audience have as much fun watching this Bridgeport High School Senior Class production of Elf the Musical as we had putting this show on for you! Get ready to be sparkle jolly twinkle jingly and spread some Christmas cheer!
