Trina Byard
Director
Trina has spent many hours in the theater with professional, school, and community theater groups. She has played roles including Kate Keller in The Miracle Worker, Norma in Visitor from Forest Hill, The Nurse in Romeo and Juliet and Flora in Tennessee Williams’ 27 Wagons Full of Cotton, which garnered her title of Best Actress at the West Virginia State International Thespian Festival in 1997. As a director, her productions with Bridgeport High School Thespian Troupe #7549, The Lovers of Verona, Medea, Bury the Dead, Star-Crossed Lovers, Elephant’s Graveyard. And The Girl in the White Pinafore all won first place regional titles and advanced to state-level competitions where several were honored as the state’s Outstanding One Act. In addition to her work with BHS theatre Trina is currently the director of the new young artist troupe Actor’s Producing Imagination (A.P.I.) at the Altered Production’s Institute (API) in Clarksburg WV.

Jennifer Hess
Producer
Jennifer Hess is a 1993 graduate of Bridgeport High School. This is her nineteenth year as a fifth-grade teacher at Nutter Fort Intermediate. She began working with Bridgeport High School Theater as a parent volunteer in 2015. In 2019, she became the official play sponsor for the theater program. Jennifer truly enjoys watching each production come to life. Break legs, theater family!

Garrett Friend
Music Director
Garrett Friend holds a B.M.E. with emphasis in trumpet, summa cum laude, from West Virginia Wesleyan College and is currently in his first year as Director of Bands at Bridgeport High School. Before joining the BHS Faculty in November 2021, he was Director of Bands at Buckhannon-Upshur High School for eight years. Mr. Friend has also served as Assistant Director of Bands at Robert C. Byrd High School and Director of Bands at Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, WV and as an itinerant music teacher serving four elementary schools in Upshur County. Mr. Friend currently resides in Buckhannon, WV with his wife, Kelci, their two mastiffs, and one beagle. Mr. Friend’s professional affiliations include: The National Association for Music Education, WV Music Educators’ Association, WV Bandmasters’ Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and the National Band Association.
