A NOTE FROM
FCS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
CHRISTY McINTOSH-NEWSOM
Welcome to Fairfield Center Stage’s production of Dreamgirls and to the gorgeous Black Rock Church. This is the fourth Mainstage show of the inaugural season of the newly formed Fairfield Center Stage, an environmental theatre company founded by the people behind Bridgeport Theatre Company (which includes my husband Eli and myself.)
When we said goodbye to the Bridgeport company we called home for almost eight years, we strove to keep our theatre family of artists, designers, musicians and supporters together, and to produce an exciting season of immersive theatre in venues all over Fairfield, so that we could continue to grow our community and collective, and we could not more more thrilled with the amazing rally of support and enthusiasm we have seen so far!
I am beyond proud of our incredible cast, staff and designers- especially our choreographer Emily, music director Eli, and our wonderful / incredible / dazzling director, Brian Crook, who we are so proud to be able to announce as our new Associate Artistic Director for our 2019/20 season!
Personally, I am so excited to share this production with you today, as Dreamgirls has always been one of my favorite shows, and the 2013 production we mounted in Bridgeport remains a highlight for me still.
Thanks to FCS Executive Producer, Eli Newsom, and to our Board of Directors (including superhero Brian Bish). Another huge thank you to the staff at Black Rock Church, who have been incredible in welcoming us here.
Lastly, thanks to you, our audience, for joining us today! We hope to see you again at The Secret Garden May 10-19 at the beautiful Pequot Library. Enjoy the show, and thank you!
