A word from our Director....
Welcome to the EA Rawlinson Centre for Broadway North Theatre Company’s production of Mamma Mia! We are thrilled you’ve come to share in the return of the BNTC summer production tradition, where we celebrate the incredible talent in our community with you, our amazing audience.
Mamma Mia is a great fit for the first BNTC show in many years. Wildly popular as a film, this stage adaptation is full of all the great ABBA tunes we love, and captures the quirky and delightful love stories of the movie. I love the parallel friendships and intertwined stories of Mother (Donna) and daughter (Sophie), and the celebration of love in this play—however you choose to celebrate it. It’s not only a fun play, but also one that focuses on the very real power of friendship, the lasting impression of falling in love, and the strength of having a great community of people to affirm your place. What could be better for a feel-good summer show?
I want to take the opportunity to thank these amazing actors and the incredible creative and production team. They have worked tirelessly this summer to make this musical come to life, and I couldn’t be more honoured to work with all of them. It takes so much knowledge, skill, talent, and time to mount a musical, and this entire group completely committed to the dream (and hard work) of making it happen. Another enormous thank you to Malcolm Jenkins and Canadian Tire for knowing this project is so important to our community, both onstage and in the audience. Thank you to the City of Prince Albert for creating this opportunity to bring this show to you all in such an incredible theatre. What a gem of a facility we have in this community.
This fall we have another great project too—Broadway North Youth Company brings you Bugsy Malone Jr., sure to amaze you with the talent of our youth in the community. Some of our alumni of the BNYC are now in Mamma Mia!, and it brings me great joy to see them continue their experience in theatre.
Watch out for an announcement for Broadway North Theatre Company’s production for Summer 2020—it’s going to be another great one! Thank you for supporting BNTC, and enjoy the show!
