The Cape Central Orchestra program was founded in 1920 and has been honored to receive continued support from the Cape Girardeau community, school district, and be led by long-standing music faculty.
The orchestra program starts beginning violin, viola, cello and bass students in 7th grade at Cape Central Junior High. As students progress through the program each year, they may participate and perform in various music festivals and contests.
Our students perform at the annual Quad-State Music Festival in Murray, KY; the Missouri District and State Solo and Ensemble Festival; the Missouri State Large Ensemble Festival, the Southeast Missouri District Honors Orchestra, and the SEMO University Orchestra.
Last year, the high school orchestra brought home a Silver Award from the Heritage World Strides Music Festival in Nashville, TN. This year, we will compete at Music in the Parks in St. Louis, MO at Six Flags.
