Myles Vencill (Director) is elated to be returning to CCT for the eighth time to direct Thoroughly Modern Millie. Myles obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Performance from San Francisco State University. He recently obtained his teaching credential from CalState Teach – CSULA, and works with a class of third graders on the weekdays. Some of Myles's directing credits include: Elf, The Musical Jr. (NYA Award for Outstanding Direction), Willy Wonka (NYA Award for Outstanding Direction), Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. (NYA Award for Outstanding Ensemble), The Addams Family (NYA Award for Outstanding Production), Disney’s Mary Poppins (CCT), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (FAN), Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (CCT), A Christmas Carol, Shrek! The Musical, Wizard of Oz, Seussical! The Musical, HONK Jr., Once Upon a Mattress, Sideways, Stop Kiss! Other behind the scenes work, includes Lighting for: Seussical! The Musical, 12 Angry Jurors, The Shape of Things, The Effects of Women, and Sideways. And Stage Management credits: Something’s Afoot, Spamalot, To Old for the Chorus…, The Producers, Seussical! The Musical, and Peter Pan. Myles would like to thank his family and friends for all their support throughout his time on and off the stage! Kathryn Baker (Choreographer) is delighted to be returning to CCT! Her choreography credits include: Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka Jr. (CCT), Sister Act (TVP), Drowsy Chaperone, All Shook Up (CAHS), Shrek, Once on This Island, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Urinetown (MVHS), Grease (Star Rep.), The Little Mermaid (Lyceum Theater), Home for the Holidays, Joseph… (Broadway Theater), Guys and Dolls, Annie (Star Theater), Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan (Moonlight Amphitheatre), to name a few. When Kathryn is not choreographing shows, she is performing on stage herself! Recent credits include: Niki Harris (Curtains), Babette (Beauty and the Beast), Narrator (Joseph...), Mrs. Fezziwig (A Christmas Carol), Sheila (A Chorus Line), and Laker Girl/French Taunter/Ensemble (Spamalot). Kathryn has a passion for teaching and loves seeing how much her students progress during the process of working on a show. She would like to give a huge thanks to her family and friends for their love and support, and to CCT for putting their faith in her and for welcoming her into their family! Eloy Castañeda (Musical Director) studied Music at San Diego State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences in Music with a Minor in Child and Family Development. Born and raised in Carlsbad, California, he has studied music for over twenty years and plays more than seven different instruments. At the age of nineteen he had his conducting debut at the University of San José Costa Rica leading the Mira Costa Chamber choir. With his guitar on his shoulder, Eloy has traveled to places like Portugal, Ireland, New York, London, Canada, and Costa Rica. He’s performed with Mira Costa’s Chamber and Show Choirs as well as their nationally ranked Jazz ensemble, Frequency. In his first year at SDSU, he was appointed VP of the Student National Association of Teacher Singers (SNATS), sang in the SDSU Chamber Choir, and also had his operatic debut in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Last year, he was given the honor to play Lumiere in CCT’s production of Beauty and the Beast. Weeks later, he was offered to musically direct CCT’s Addam's Family, which won a National Youth Art award for best overall production. Last spring, he musically directed 9-5 at Carlsbad High School, winning many MACY awards.
