Producer's Note
Welcome to Schoolhouse Rock LIVE! Jr!
Thirteen days ago this cast, crew, and directing team had never met. And for many this was the first time performing or taking on large leadership roles! Through our rehearsal process we have learned how to collaborate, problem-solve, listen, support each other, work as an ensemble, and share our love of theatre. These are 21st Century skills that all employers and teachers value.
Research shows that theatre education:
- Improves teamwork, creativity, memory, and language skills.
- Lowers dropout rates among at-risk youth.
- Correlates to greater success in math and reading for many students.
It has been a crazy year full of firsts as we navigated thorugh a global pandemic, shifts in politcs and a whole year of online learning. This summer we had the oppertunity to use some state support to provide credit recovery for students who needed to make up any visual and perofrming arts requirements. Thanks to this oppertunity we were able to create the first live production at Claremont High School since March of 2020.
We’ve had a great time on this unique venture, and have loved working with the next generation of Claremont HS Thespians.
Thank you for supporting theatre in your community.
