Directors Notes
Growing up I remember watching the movie The Wiz with my grandmother while she ate her pistachios with the red shells. We would sing along with Diana Ross And Michael Jackson. I would hide my eyes when they were being chased by the creatures in the subway and when the singers started in What would I do. This show has always held such a special place in my heart because of those memories. This show holds a very special place in musical theater history as well. We hope that we have paid homage to that history while adding our own flair to this classic story. The music is infectious and this cast is as well. They have spent many months working on this show and this is all them, from set design and costume design to running the dances and even music. They have been the leaders throughout the whole process. I thank them for bringing such a special piece of my childhood alive and thank you for coming and supporting student theater. Now more than ever we need the arts to help us escape the pressures of the world and sometimes help us understand the world around us. Theater is more than what you see in front of you. It is Math, Science, History, Literature, teamwork, deadlines, communication and most importantly passion. Thank you for supporting our passion so that we can continue to share our passion with the community.
