Pine Hill - October 29

Fort Payne High School

 End Notes

A View from the Director:

Pine Hill started in the Summer of 2016.  Coming off the competitive season of 2015 the FPHS Drama Department had some bruises but we also had a new understanding.  For many years the department focussed only on the family friendly world of the Senior Play.  The Fall productions were gaining strength and validity, but they did not serve a purpose...yet!  2015 was the first year we competed as a department.  Our very talented students competed and scored well, but we collectively wanted more.  We saw what the larger schools were doing.  We saw what the established schools were doing.  We decided to build our competitive department.

These students you see before you are amazing in their own right.  They sing, they act, they pull the audience in and guide them to understanding. They have recorded all the vocalizations and special sounds in the classroom.  Gathered around a microphone they took direction to extend their comfort zone into the etherial...

With Pine Hill, they are asked to take you into the woods of the Appalachian Mountains where the families depend on each other, their intuition, and their tenacity.  In the mountains a family has to fight to survive...sometimes they can't live the life they gotta live...

Please excuse any errors in this program...we are only human (except that one guy...).
