A Few “Thinks” from Director Lauria Baker

Welcome to a fun and crazy ride! I know so many people that think Seussical is a “kids” show.  I believe, however,  that the heart of Seussical is so much more!

Seussical is a wonderful musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss. But, it isn’t a string of his stories set to music…and it isn’t one of his stories. In fact, what has been done is the creation of a totally new, full-length book musical, with a story that weaves together his most famous tales and characters in unexpected ways. This show incorporates elements from at least fifteen of his classic books. Many of these characters have never met before, but they will meet in our musical for the first time!

In the course of the show, some will fall in love, some will have desperate adventures, and some will save the world. They will travel everywhere! From the Jungle of Nool to McElligott's Pool. Palm Beach to places out of reach. Dr. Seuss believes in helping a friend, in not giving up, in keeping a promise. He believes in the value and dignity of others, in working to preserve the fragile sweetness of the natural world. And he believes that peace is the ultimate ideal, among nations and in every heart. He also believes in the power of the imagination! Overall, the deeply rooted themes in Seussical will be evident to the audience through the witty writing and deep character plots. We can all find something in Seussical that touches us and teaches us to examine ourselves a little more closely.

A big thank you to my wonderful productions team and their assistants! You are amazing!  Special thanks to Perry and Abby for keeping up with my Madness!

I am so pleased to be making my directorial debut with this wonderful show and this amazing cast! So please sit back and be transported to some magical places like the Circus McGurkus and Solla Sollew! Listen to the message and have an amazing journey!

                                                                                           Thank you,

“A person’s a person no matter how small.”                        Lauria Baker
