    Assistant Director/Stage Manager

    MIREN SOFIA JORDANA is a Theatre Arts Graduate from Silliman University, Philippines. She trained in Creative Musical Theatre Workshop with the Philippine Educational Theatre Assoc. and attended the Broadway Teachers' Workshop & Students' Summit in NYC. Notable theatre credits include: The King and I, West Side Story, Sound of Music, Mula sa Kulimliman, Ang Tiririt ng Ibong Adarna, Miss Saigon SE & Les Miserables SE. She directed Miss Dumaguete 2017, Norman, Is That You? and RENT in the Philippines. She first came to Guam as an intern for World Theater Productions. With WTP, she was the Assistant Director for RENT, Mamma Mia!, Moana Jr., Frozen Jr., & Miss Saigon. She was most recently Head Stage Manager for GATE VPA's Little Shop of Horrors.

    Akiko’s experience in behind the scenes stems from supporting as a researcher at Mt. MELVIL, LLC. and as a graduate of the Byakuren Group of Soka Gakkai International-USA. She served as a Production Assistant for WTP’s Miss Saigon in 2022 and as a Prop Master for GATE VPA’s Little Shop of Horrors this past spring. In the midst of any chaos, her motto has always been to “smile for the cause and not the effect.” She would like to thank all our champion supporters including our wonderful parents working diligently behind the behind the scenes! Congratulations to all members of BATB Guam 2023! We did it!

    Marcial Pontillas was born and raised in the Philippines, and moved to Guam in 2011. He is a former Fine Arts College Professor at the Far Eastern University in Manila from 2000 to 2010 and a multi-award winning artist, with art exhibitions local and international. Marcial is a conceptual artist who continues to explore the human spirit with the claustrophobic humanscapes as its metaphor. Aside from paintings, Marcial makes sculptures, installation, prints, graphics and video art.
