When I first began to work on Annie, I knew it was going to be a large show. Little did I know how large! I quickly had to rethink my director management skills to accommodate a cast of this size. Annie was my first Main Stage show when I was 12 years old and even after 13 years, this show has a special place in my heart. Luckily, I got to share that experience with my mom and sister back then. Now, I get to share this experience with a whole new group of families! This is a show that is done by families for families.
A huge thank-you goes out to our production team for their imagination and collaboration and to our backstage crew for making the magic seamless. And of course, to you, our audience — thank you for supporting live theatre and sharing in the spirit of this story.
Thank you to my family and friends for your unwavering support throughout this process. I literally could not have done this without you! Thank you to my wonderful husband who made me dinner every night after rehearsal. You’re the best Kody, I love you!
Annie reminds us that no matter how tough life gets, the sun really will come out tomorrow — sometimes because of a little faith, and sometimes because we choose to make it shine ourselves. I hope tonight’s performance leaves you humming those familiar tunes and carrying that bit of sunshine with you when you leave the theatre.
With gratitude,
Elise Short
