There are moments in life when we are reminded just how precious—and how fleeting—our time really is.
RENT asks us to look honestly at that truth. It is a story filled with love and loss, fear and courage, anger and forgiveness, uncertainty and hope. Its characters face circumstances that none of us would choose, yet they continue to search for connection, meaning, and reasons to celebrate the life they have been given.
At its heart, RENT is a reminder to live.
Not someday. Not when everything is perfect. Not when we have more money, more time, fewer problems, or all the answers. It asks us to embrace the imperfect, messy, beautiful present—and to recognize the people beside us while we still have the opportunity to tell them how much they mean to us.
This production is also, to me, a story about choosing love over hate.
We live in a world where it can be remarkably easy to divide ourselves—to focus on what separates us rather than what connects us. RENT challenges that instinct. Its characters are different from one another, they make mistakes, they hurt each other, and they struggle to understand one another. And yet, again and again, they find their way back to compassion, friendship, forgiveness, and love.
And perhaps most importantly, RENT reminds us that hope is still possible in the presence of loss.
Hope does not mean pretending that pain isn’t real. It doesn’t erase grief or make difficult circumstances disappear. Hope simply says that loss will not have the final word. That even after heartbreak, there can be music. After anger, forgiveness. After loneliness, connection. After darkness, light.
As you watch this production, I hope you allow yourself to laugh loudly, feel deeply, and perhaps remember someone you love. I hope you think about the people who have shaped your life—and whether they know how much they mean to you.
Most of all, I hope you leave with a renewed appreciation for the extraordinary gift of being here, together, right now.
Choose love. Choose hope. Choose each other. And choose to live.
Thank you for sharing this moment with us.
