A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
When choosing our spring production, I kept returning to one title—Harvey. My connection to this play began long before I ever stepped into a theatre classroom. My dad’s name is Harvey, and anytime he introduced himself he’d say with a smile, “Harvey—like the six‑foot rabbit.”
Revisiting Harvey this year felt like the perfect moment to reintroduce its charm to a new generation. In a world filled with noise, pressure, and constant reminders to “be realistic,” this story quietly insists that imagination, kindness, and compassion have tremendous power. Elwood P. Dowd’s unwavering goodwill—toward family, strangers, and yes, even toward a giant invisible pooka—reminds us that seeing the world with generosity is not naïve; it’s courageous.
At its heart, Harvey explores themes of acceptance, the value of gentleness, and the bravery it takes to remain true to oneself even when society pushes conformity. These ideas feel more relevant today than ever. As young people navigate expectations, identities, and the whirlwind of modern life, this play invites us all to pause and consider the beauty in those who move through the world with kindness first.
I hope this production brings you laughter, nostalgia, and maybe even a little magic. Dad-this one's for you! I love you!
