  The Plays

HOTLINE - Written by Cheryl Navo - Directed by Chay Taylor

"Operator 72 is training to be a counselor for the SILT (Socially Inappropriate Language Therapy) Hotline. This is where clients call to blow off steam by swearing at the counselor operators, using socially inappropriate language to release tension so they can calm down and solve their problems. After extensive study, on-the-job training and a verbal test, Operator 72 is ready to become a fully-accredited SILT counselor by facing his final challenge - a monitored solo call. Janine definitely has a problem, and she just as definitely needs to blow off steam. But she is incapable of swearing. What can Operator 72 do? Janine eventually finds her own solution while Operator 72 learns that swearing might not be the cure-all the SILT Hotline touts. Although the play is focused on foul language as therapy, not a single swear word appears in the entire play."

LIGHTS OFF - Written by Oluchi Nwoke and Helen Ma - Directed by Oluchi Nwoke

"A play with a timer and choices. We explore the vulnerable sides of people as a whole, the good and the ugly. A man, a couple, and a mother-son relationship displays their everyday routine and what happens when they no longer get to do it everyday."

TAKE FIVE - Written by Westley Pederson - Directed by Kiara Brown and Kim Gutierrez

"Imagine you are an actor on opening night trying to perform on a set that isn't completed. Then one actor doesn't show up, a man from the audience uses your stage phone to argue with his wife, the props either don't work or are missing, the lighting and sound cues are off and two silly, incompetent stagehands do their worst. That's only the beginning of this award-winning show which actually caused a woman in one audience to fall from her chair in laughter."

BABY - Written by Conrad Davidson - Directed by Chandan Vashishat

"In this fast-paced play, Baby completely forgets his (or her) pre baby training and is completely overwhelmed by adults from birth to the first birthday. Bad breath in the face, being tossed high into the air, and unwanted vocabulary lessons assail the infant before Baby is coached to employ tricks that drive adults to distraction."

UN RESTAURANT - Written by Werner Trieschmann - Directed by Dylan Gauthier and Emily Klassen

"A cutting-edge restaurant is the setting for a challenging romantic dinner."

NEVER SWIM ALONE - Written by Daniel McIvor - Directed by Nestor Gonzalez Gomez
"Never Swim Alone is a competition."
