The Lion King Jr - May 13 - May 14, 2016

James J. Chittick

  End Notes

A Note From the Director,

I want to begin by sincerely thanking the families of the performers for running lines with their children, picking them up from rehearsals, and listening to the soundtrack to the show enough times to make them lose their minds.  Your children may not say it right now, but they will be forever grateful for your support and for allowing them to be a part of something so special.

I also want to thank the staff at the Chittick School, without whom none of this would have been possible. Your support means the world to me.  I especially want to thank Koriana Bradford, who came to rehearsals with her own children in tow, always with a smile on her face and enthusiasm for helping our students learn to sing, and has a voice so much better than mine with which to do that.  Thank you to Bethany Lynch, who started at the Chittick in September and immediately agreed to take on even more in her first year by choreographing numbers for the show.  A huge thank you to Ann Berman, who was so excited when she found out she was working at a school that would be performing THE LION KING, she approached me with an offer to help, no arm twisting necessary.  Thanks to Jean Noe for her support and excellent listening skills. Thank you to "Coach" Kevin Ward for staying for numerous practices and showing such enthusiasm for the show.  Thank you to Will Osier for giving up countless afternoons to assist at rehearsals and helping to keep the performers, and the director, calm. Huge thanks to Addie Johnson, who has gone above and beyond this year both with the musical and in our fourth grade classroom.  Finally, thank you to Cameron Dominick, who offers to help at the drop of a hat, listens to me vent about how no one remembers their lines, and has been a huge asset to all of our musical productions and the Chittick community as a whole. He literally put his blood into this production: Pride Rock required six stitches.  We're going to miss you; I'll miss you most.

Finally, to the cast: You are amazing!  You have learned songs, lines, dances, cues...all after going to school for seven hours each day.  Most adults couldn't do that, and you're all under 13 years old!  There is nothing that you cannot do when you put your mind to it.  Thank you for your enthusiasm and excitement about putting on a show, and for managing to learn the real words to "pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom." You are all superstars!

What show are we doing next year?

The Chittick School Musical is produced on an entirely volunteer basis.  Teachers give up their free time to make this the best possible production for students.  Unfortunately, funding is not available through the school.  We rely on parent contributions and ticket sales to pay for the production, but that is not always enough to cover our costs.

If you would like to donate to keep the Chittick School Musical going, please see a staff member at ticket sales or visit www.gofundme.com/chittickmusical.

Thank you for supporting Arts Education at the Chittick School!
