DIRECTOR'S NOTE

Welcome to Mary Poppins!  We are delighted to bring this family classic to the stage.  It may be slightly different than what you remember from the movie version, but Mary Poppins is still “practically perfect in every way.”

We have just loved working with this material and bringing these characters to life.  Most of us in the cast, crew and creative team grew up on the book and the movie.  It shaped our childhood and the songs are embedded into the archives of our emotional yesteryear.  What we were not as prepared for was how deeply touched we would be by the depth of character and arch provided by George & Winifred Banks.  In this stage production, we really see their humanity – their childhood wounds, the dreams they’ve had to release, the challenges of society that they face, and a marriage that has long lost its passion and has given way to dashed expectations and duty.  I invite you to look closer at George Banks and follow along as he is confronts the demons of his past, faces his greatest fears, and…through the gentle, indirect and entirely unwelcomed prodding of the rather mysterious and whimsical nanny, comes to a renewed understanding of the value and worth of his family.

Remember, “anything can happen if you let it!”  So open your heart and “step in time” to this “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” musical and join us on our “jolly holiday!”
