Notes from the director:
At the end of each year, I let the 7th graders pick thier 8th grade musical from a list of five shows. Popular vote wins, and often surprises me. I was honestly surprised when the kids chose The Music Man over Elf. I really anticipated doing a Christmas show in October! The journey through this show has been a whirlwind--all shows seem to happen quickly, but this one pretty much feels like I blinked and it's opening night.
I am immensely proud of the hard work of these students--they have proven to be flexible, (mostly) showed good time-management skills, were positive even on the longest rehearsal days, and ALWAYS showing kindness to their fellow cast and crew. This kind of kid is rare and precious, and I have a whole cast of them. Lost Mountain community, you are amazing.
To my 6th graders: welcome to the stage! I am so glad you've chosen to be a part of this program--you are all VITALLY important members of this ensemble. I wish I'd had more time to get to know you individually--the good news is that I still have two more years with you!
To my 7th graders: my precious monkeys in the middle :) You make me smile every day I get to work with you as you are the perfect blend of sass and scared. I hope that your time in middle school (you're halfway done, can you believe it??) is something you treasure--it's not always fun, but hopefully you can smile at most of it.
To my 8th graders: you are my heart babies. I got you as baby 6th graders and have had the amazing opportunity to share 3 years with you and am NOT excited about you leaving LMMS. I can't wait to see how you grow-- you are ALWAYS a part of my heart, and I will always be here for you if you need me. Words don't cut it, ya'll. You are mine, and I love you.
(sappyness ahead alert)
To Jon, Ian, and Ivy: Thank you for putting up with me (in general), and for being the best husband and kids ever. I know I've had a lot of late nights, and early mornings, and weekends away from you, but know that I love and appreciate you. Jon, thanks for being you--I wouldn't take anyone else. Ian--HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BIG MAN!! You're my favorite seven year old EVER. Ivy--you're my mini-me. You're still the most beautiful thing I've ever made.
