We all love Mary Poppins. From the treasured books, to the Disney classic, to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns, she has been a childhood fixture for generations and will continue to be so for years to come. We’re drawn not just to her magic but the balance and order she creates. After all, she can make the “sun shine bright” while helping ensure that everything is “spit spot.” And of course, her wisdom about what can be accomplished with just a “spoonful of sugar” is invaluable.
At the same time, when we look carefully at this story, we see that Mary Poppins is about more than a magical woman who can get things done. Instead, the magic is found in the beautiful and hopeful message that we can all set things right when they have gone wrong or we have lost our way. Sometimes we just need to be reminded, and those reminders may come from people as unlikely as a woman who sells crumbs for birds or a pack of chimney sweeps.
We want to thank our talented cast, crew, volunteers, and patient families for being “upside down” for a bit while we’ve worked hard to bring this musical to you. We hope you enjoy our production of Mary Poppins, The Broadway Musical.
