From the Director
I first met Katy Obukhov at Riddle Brook Elementary School in Bedford, where she was a classmate and friend of my son, Carter. Mrs. Cushman was their first-grade teacher, and, as it turned out, Mrs. Cushman had the opportunity to move up to second grade with this amazing group of children. In doing so, she kept the entire class together, and they became one large, extended family.
As the official class photographer for both those years, I had the privilege of visiting their class on a regular basis to snap photos of the kids for the school yearbook, usually during a classroom party or field trip. (Incidentally, if you’ve never taken the opportunity to volunteer in a classroom full of first or second graders, I highly recommend that you do so; it will instill in you a great sense of joy and hope for the future.) That's how I met Katy, but I regrettably did not have the pleasure of knowing her much longer. Tragically, and much like Anne Frank, Katy and her younger sister, Lizzy, had their time on earth cut heartbreakingly short.
In order to celebrate and honor the lives of these two beautiful girls, who both loved dancing and performing, we decided to build the Lizzy and Katy Obukhov Memorial Amphitheater. We are proud to present "Yours, Anne" as the first official fundraiser towards making this heartfelt memory a reality. It is our hope that with the dedication of our team, and the generosity of our patrons, we will one day see generations of children performing on this stage, celebrating the lives of Katy and Lizzy through the art they loved so much.
With Kind Regards,
