DIRECTOR'S NOTE

In an attempt to utilize as many of the talented students at Marian, I was wonderfully led to a concept that I think truly embodies the essence of Godspell. The premise revolves around the concept of Good and Evil and how we as humans struggle within those constructs. In the end, many times it comes down to a “choice” of which construct we decide to abide by in the moment. To represent this struggle, I have taken each primary character (representing Good) and created their counterpart (representing Evil) to serve as two parts within the same person – the old notion of an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. As the play progresses, you’ll witness the struggle that takes place with each side (Good and Evil) as they interact and attempt to take control. The essence of this piece is that Jesus’ teachings were put here to guide us to making choices based on God’s Will. Please sit back and enjoy and PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD...
