Prologue
We have several award winning campers this year. And not just figuratively; literally! Among them are at least three national or international competition winners. Please check out our “My Story” Board to see their accomplishments. Among the national winners is Kate Jentz. It was a 5th Grade Creative Writing Contest sponsored by the American Immigration Council. Kate won for the Indiana region and on May 16, at the Indianapolis MLK Jr. Park, she read her poem at the conclusion of a Naturalization Ceremony of 100 new citizens. She has since been named the national winner for this year and was asked to read her poem for the American Heritage Awards Banquet in Orlando, Florida. ‘Tell Me A Story” so ties in with our Mulan theme, that we have asked Kate to read her poem, one more time, for us. It is a poem of stories, and of cultures different from our own. Everyone has a story. May we be moved, so as to listen to them.
