Director’s Message.
Wow. We’re here! You’re here! There’s a show! And we are so excited to do it for you!
And I am so excited to show you this one in particular. This is an incredible story of a young girl who sees something wrong in the world, and changes it. Even more powerfully, she doesn’t just change it so her world is better- she changes it so her friends can have a place to grow, learn, feel safe, and have fun. I hope we all get to be like Matilda one day.
And I am so excited to present this show because these are such incredible students. These teenagers show up everyday, ready to go, ready to learn, ready to change the world. We have our actors, who have given up their weekends in order to learn the show. We have our stage craft students, who have taken on challenge after challenge. We have our pit band who is playing one of the most difficult scores I’ve come across in over 15 years in the arts. These kids are amazing.
And, I am excited because this is a culmination of a true community of helpers. Dave Price (my partner in crime who I am very thankful for!) have had EAs making sure things run smoothly, choreographers teaching dance moves, sponsors generously donating time, money, and resources, staff raising their hand and saying “I’ll help!”, family members taking care of us, friends helping to keep our spirits high, and so many more people stepping up to the challenge. Thank you!
Lastly, I am excited that you’re here. Life is busy, so the fact that you’re here means a lot. So, please sit back and enjoy the show!
