Welcome, friends, to New York - 1922! The Jazz Age! Speakeasies, bobbed hair, higher heels, shorter skirts, prohibition, and hot jazz! Get ready – you’re in for a history lesson with this show!
Based on the 1967 film with Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, Thoroughly Modern Millie debuted in San Diego at the La Jolla Playhouse, and danced its way to Broadway in 2002, winning six TONY awards, including Best Musical! Big Broadway tap musicals like 42nd Street, Singin’ in the Rain, and Millie are the musicals that leave people with a song in their hearts and a skip in their steps!
I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to work with such a great team of directors! Our music director and choreographer are two of the best, and as you’ll see, this show truly “takes a village!”
I’d also like to take a minute to personally thank Greg Pschirrer, from Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, WA, for allowing our amazing builders to base our set designs on his! Thank you, Tiger Drama! With that said, I’d like to also thank the terrific team of NCS parents who spent many hours building the amazing set, and props, that you’ll see tonight! What a wonderful group I was able to work with!
Millie is a musical with so much heart and joy, and this cast and crew have brought this exuberant show to life! They've shared their talents, their vulnerability, their sweat, and their tears. For that, I am so grateful. On behalf of our entire production team, thank you so very much for your support of live theater at Northwest Christian School!
