The Nutcracker - December 20

Nunnbetter Dance Theatre

 Notes

Notes from the Nunnbetter Dance Theatre Director

Dear Nunnbetter Families,

As I sit to write this, I am overwhelmed with emotion at just how thankful, how grateful I am to our NDT family. This year, 2020, has been such a rollercoaster of emotion for all of us. As adults its has been hard to process, and I am sure it has been even harder on our children.

When we were forced to shut our doors due to COVID-19 in March, we took a deep breath and figured out how to do virtual classes. When we were able to slowly re-open over the summer, we took a deep breath and researched best practices for health and safety, and put our guidelines in place. When September came and a new season at NDT was allowed to begin, we again took a deep breath then altered class size, sanitized, changed drop off and pick up, took temperatures and of course, those pesky masks. But we did it. And then when asked, "How are you going to do a Nutcracker?" We again took a deep breath and said, the same way we have been able to keep our studio alive. . . with patience, and thoughtfulness, creativity and most of all love.

Thank you, Ernie, for your energy, your kindness, your optimism, your leadership and of course, your friendship. I am grateful every day for you and love watching you blossom in this Nutcracker process. Thank you, Kerri, for always knowing just what to say and do. You are the steady voice in a sometimes-wacky world and I appreciate you very much. Thank you, Ms Lili, Ms Courtney, Ms Robin and Ms Eleanor for sharing your gifts and talents with all of these dancers and bringing each section to life. I watch all of your work and am inspired and awestruck. Thank you, Even, Lucille, Chris, Jill, Sarah, Amy and all of those who keep this little engine that could be chugging along. And of course, thank you, Jodi, for jumping in, rolling up your sleeves, never looking back and doing what you always do, making everything better.

And to EVERY dancer, to every parent tirelessly driving and dropping off, every volunteer sewing buttons, THANK YOU!!! Collectively, I believe that every member of our NDT family has taken that deep breath and used it to breathe life into the most wonderful, the most beautiful production of The Nutcracker.

We needed this Nutcracker. Our community needed this Nutcracker. I needed this Nutcracker. The love that flows from this beautiful production touches my heart and takes my breath away.

Thank you. . .

With much love,

Ms Kim
