By their nature, the Performing Arts need an audience that reacts to and appreciates the art being performed. Oftentimes, however, the audience is unaware of all of the moving parts going on backstage, as well as all of the work that has gone into bringing a performance to life. When we do it right, it looks effortless. Believe me, it is not!
There are a lot of people who contribute to the success of our performances, and they are most deserving of our thanks and their own round of applause:
- The Board of Education and Administration of the Ocean City School District
- Principal Matthew Jamison, Vice Principal Wendy O'Neal, and Vice Principal Michael Mattina
- Mr. Tim Kelley in the Board of Education office, and Mrs. Gail Pendleton in the Student Services office at OCHS
- Mr. Gregory Wheeldon, Performing Arts department chair
- The always diligent, never-complaining OCHS Custodial Staff
- The equally gracious and good-natured OCHS Cafeteria staff
- TDF Costume Collection of Astoria, NY, without whose resources, time, attention, and expert advice, our costumer would still be sewing, gluing, and embroidering authentic period costumes
- OCHS Theater Boosters, especially Tara Pietrowitz, Francine McCarty, Ann DeGennaro, and Jane Rodriguez, those tireless parents and friends of our Drama Guild, who feed and water us, supply us with snacks and t-shirts, and raise money for scholarships for our Drama Guild seniors
- Ms. Joan Vicari and the OCHS Library staff, for supporting our exhibit on the literary works of Jane Austen
- St. Peter's United Methodist Church of Ocean City, for hosting our cast party, and otherwise supporting our cast and crew
- The businesses in Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Upper Township, and throughout Cape May and Atlantic counties, who supported our production with supplies, materials, advice, and well wishes
- The staff of the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, Somerset, UK
- You, the audience, for your time and support for the performing arts in the Ocean City School District
- Last, but not least, Jane Austen herself, for her classic characters, her wit and wisdom and beautiful language. Thank you to all!
