Halina Malinowski (Producer) Five by Tenn is the 10th show that Halina has produced or co-produced for OotB. As president of OotB’s board of directors, Halina is responsible for the company’s strategic direction, legal compliance, and administrative, managerial, and financial challenges. Her experience includes over 30 years’ engagement with and for nonprofits.

 

Ward Nixon (Director) is thrilled to work with Out of the Box Theatre Company again, and with such a talented cast and crew for Five by Tenn. His career spans more than 30 years as an actor, director, acting teacher, acting coach, playwright, dramaturge, and commercial print model. He has worked extensively on stage and on camera, both regionally and nationally. He was the CEO, artistic director, resident director, and board member of Gertrude Jeannette’s The H.A.D.L.E.Y. Players Theatre from 2010 to 2013. Recently, he wrote, directed, and performed his one-character, one-act play, Gertrude, in homage to his dear, dear friend and mentor, Ms. Gertrude Hadley Jeannette, which received very favorable reviews. He will begin touring Gertrude in 2023. In July, he will appear in Horton Foote’s play 1918 for two weeks in the Catskills. Afterwards, he will begin directing the one-character one-act play The Avenging Angel. He currently teaches acting at his acting studio, TCA Acting Studio, in New York City where he resides. He is also a guest acting teacher at the Screen Actors’ Guild. He is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Harlan D. Penn (Scenic Designer) is a proud graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The South Florida native has designed for Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, cable television, regional theater, and educational theater. In addition, Penn has served as an art director and assistant art director for film and television productions for NETFLIX, HULU, ABC, NBC, Hallmark Movie Channel, CBS, and Turner Broadcasting. Theater design credits include For Colored Girls, Blues for an Alabama Sky, On Striver's Row, Flyin' West, Dreamgirls, Seven Guitars, Gem of the Ocean, Jitney, Radio Golf, King Hedley II, Chained Dog, Drumline Live (International tour), The Mighty Gents, Camp Logan, Buried Child, Looking, Catch Me if You Can, and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, to name a few. Film/TV productions include God Friended Me, For Life, Girls 5eva, The Last O.G., Saturday Night Live, Raising Kanan, Madame Secretary, Katy Keene, and Roland Martin Unfiltered. Mr. Penn is thrilled to be working with Out of the Box Theatre Company.

 

Katherine Roberson (Costume Designer) is glad to be back working with Out of the Box Theatre, having been the costumer for OotB’s productions of The Cemetery Club, The Exonerated, and Harvey.

 

Stephen Cornelius (Lighting Designer) has assisted with lighting setups at Goddard Riverside since 2015. Recently, he has also acted as the master electrician for companies including Abingdon Theatre Co., Keen Co., Ma-Yi Theater Co., Trinity School, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He currently works as an audio-visual technician at Trinity School.
