Sense and Sensibility - April 25 - April 27, 2024

Plainfield High School

 Director's Note

Special thanks to our cast and student crews, our producer and tech director extraordinaire, Emily, our costumers Cheryl, and Becky, my stage manager, Brenley and Wayne who oversees our sound and light crew. Without all of these people there would be no show. I am blessed to have such a creative and hard working team.

I love Jane Austen, and this particular adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" has become dear to my heart over these last several months. It has been a joy watching these students embody these characters and tell their story so well. I confess that I am a hopeless romantic. I cry at sad movies, raise my fist at injustice and feel and empathize deeply with what characters experience in any given story. However, when presented with all the facts I can actually be pretty sensible in spite of my emotions. I suppose that is what drew me to this story. It is not an "either/or" story, but a "both /and" adventure.  Elinor personifies steadiness and common sense while Marianne is the epitome of passion and emotion. I actually believe it takes a good balance of both of these things to navigate this life well.  When we find ourselves sitting only in one camp or the other exclusively , it may be time to get some counseling! Ha! Wherever you find yourself, come out and enjoy this lovely romp through the English countryside with us!

Thank you for coming!!

Under HIS mercy,

Todd
