With each of our productions, we seek to provide our audience with the opportunity to be immersed in the action. Our hope is that you enter this space and are able to escape to Treegap Wood for a few hours, forgetting whatever is waiting for you in the real world. This decision warrants significant flexibility and commitment, both on our part and on the part of our cast. In our shows, we highlight this flexibility and commitment in four “P”s: Preparation, Positivity, Perseverance, and Pals. The cast of Tuck Everlasting has shown Preparation by pushing toward improvement at every stage of this rehearsal process – their success is a testament to the work they invested, inside and outside of the rehearsal room. Their Perseverance is manifested in the trust they put in themselves, and in us as their directors. They accepted all feedback as a gift and new tool in their toolbelt, implementing it seamlessly and believing in their own continued growth. They exemplified Positivity by stepping outside of their comfort zones, allowing themselves and their castmates to reach new heights in their performances. Their greatest superpower is in the last value: Pals. To us as a company, this means creating a safe space for one another, lifting each other up, allowing space for fun, and supporting each others’ success. They did this beautifully by encouraging one another, laughing with each other, and genuinely enjoying seeing their castmates shine.
We, as a team, lean on each other every single day to support this production and this company, but we are not an island. Tuck Everlasting is a testament to our production team as much as ourselves. We are so grateful to Clara and Amelie who are absolute work horses, who have the ability to laugh when things go haywire, and who taught us about the magic of rehearsal reports. To Angelina who has supported this company from its conception and is instrumental in helping these students find their voice. To Dora who brought our forest to life through dance, your skills in choreography and in costume design are so far beyond our wildest dreams. To Liz, whose brain seems to be an infinite treasure trove of brilliant ideas and who brings positivity at every turn in the production process. And to Tori who kept us sane, always bringing a ready listening ear, and reminding us that delegating is crucial. Every one of these people, along with our extensive list of technicians, stage hands, parent volunteers, and supporting friends, have held a part in making this production a success. Thank you for also being Positivity and Pals.
It has been a joy to watch these students grow and shine throughout this rehearsal process and we know you will be blown away by them, as we are. Please enjoy this Central Oregon premier of Tuck Everlasting.
