Note from the Director
There are no words in any language that could adequately capture the pride I have in this production and the promise I see in my performers. You have accomplished something truly remarkable on our humble stage: not only have you more than competently delivered a show that will be talked about for years to come, but you have successfully shown the County and the Commonwealth all that Theatre is and all that Theatre will be in Powhatan County.
There is nothing here that I can say that I have not already said through shouts of joy and tears of triumph. It has been the privilege of a lifetime to watch you grow as performers and as people. The growth you have shown is immeasurable and invaluable. The work you have accomplished is transformative. Roald Dahl's Matilda will now and forever hold a special place in the story of my life; I can no longer listen to the soundtrack on Spotify without seeing each and every one of you clear as day, as though we just shared the stage, and I hope I never forget this.
This was my first show with Powhatan High School Theatre. While it certainly won't be my last, it will be the one I cherish most of all. You have set an impossible standard that every production must now live up to until the end of time, but, more than that, you have made room in my heart where the memories of this experience shall live forevermore.
Thank you for all you are, all you have done, and all you will continue to do.
