Sin is rebellion against God. Adam and Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden resulted in the introduction of sin into the human race (Romans 5:12-14). Sin is committed against three individuals: ourselves (Proverbs 8:36), others (Romans 5:12) and God (Psalms 51:4, I Corinthians 8:12). The consequence of unforgiven sin is spiritual death, but God's gift to the believer is eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23).
