Much like the Titanic itself, this production has been one of the biggest and grandest projects I have ever undertaken. I sincerely hope we are successful in bringing you a piece of history that changed the world. While doing the research necessary to have the background of this event, I have learned how the sinking of the Titanic and the investigations that followed in both America and England changed the societal class system, safety systems, and communications of travel, which in turn spilled over into the daily life of both the rich and under privileged.
Everything about the show has been a challenge! But the joy of working a collaborative effort has overshadowed any of the challenges. From the auditions and the outpouring of numerous quality actors and singers from all over the area to the generous and wonderful volunteers in both our amazing orchestra and our house operations, it has been a genuine pleasure to work with all of you. Your talents and commitment to this project has make this gigantic undertaking a reality.
A huge thanks must be given to the entire production staff, as their job of design and execution has been beyond belief. The Wow factor of each of their areas of expertise, all unique to this production, should have you holding your breath with disbelief.
Directing a show for which everyone knows the ending has been another of those challenges, unique to this production. How to keep from foreshadowing the end has led to many discussions of the why’s each of them were on the ship. Each character has done extensive research as to their background... where they were coming from and why they were on the Titanic, what they wanted when the got to America... these have been the challenges for the cast.
As we each did the research necessary to bring you as nearly an authentic reenactment of this terrible tragedy as possible, we have learned together about the people, talked about their hopes and dreams, felt sorrow about the unnecessary loss of life, and wondered just how such an event could actually have happened.
That is what this production is about. There is humor, high fashion, class distinction, personal pride, selfish arrogance, and above all the story of human nature at its worse and its best. It is our hope that you will recognize our efforts and enjoy our endeavors.
