Alexander Willey
Bass
Alexander Willey has been playing music as long as he can remember. His mother started him on violin before his 2nd birthday. When he was 7, he picked up the bass and quickly developed a passion for it. When he was 16, he finally came to his senses and stopped practicing the violin to focus solely on his bass playing.
He has won multiple competitions including the Utah State Fair solo competition (string division), the Salute to Youth (solo with the Utah Symphony), the National ASTA competition (bass division), and the BYU Solo competition (senior division, solo with the Philharmonic) .
Alexander started his degree at BYU as a bass performance music major and intends to graduate in two years. A resident of Pleasant Grove, Utah, he currently teaches privately on the bass, cello, and violin while playing in multiple orchestras across Utah.
