A Note from the Director....

Thank you so much for joining us for The Curious Savage.  Author John Patrick originally penned this charming show in 1950, yet the jokes and humor still hold up today.  It is a heartwarming comedy, with a hint of mystery that really spoke to me.

When I was first approached about directing again this year, I started wracking my brain to think of a show that would be a perfect fit for the season.  The season was pretty much set with a musical (Light in the Piazza and Wonderful Town), a drama (Phaedra), and a comedy (Make ‘em Laugh! An evening of Comedy), so I was trying to find a show with an air of mystery to it.  I rediscovered The Curious Savage, after forgetting about it for a few years, and knew immediately that this was the one.

The play challenges the audience to find the light in everyone, even those that society says aren’t worth our time.  We need to see people the way God sees them: Wonderfully made (Ps. 139:14).  We should be willing to be the change in the world, and encourage those that are trying to make a difference. Matthew 5:16 states: In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

I hope you come to enjoy this show as much as I have.  These actors have done a terrific job bringing these characters and the story to life!  Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this show come together.  I sincerely appreciate it!
