SYNOPSIS: In Richard III, a long civil war (The War of the Roses) between the royal family of York and the royal family of Lancaster has ended and England enjoys a period of peace under King Edward IV and the victorious Yorks. But Edward’s younger brother, Richard, resents Edward’s power and the happiness of those around him. Malicious, power-hungry, and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard begins to aspire secretly to the throne—and decides to kill anyone he has to in order to become king. Richard woos the wife of his enemy and she relents to marry him. After Edward's death, his wife Queen Elizabeth begins to see that Richard is killing off her family members and anyone who stands in his way, including her sons. Richard gains the crown and becomes paranoid of those around him who might attempt to take the crown. Meanwhile the self-exiled Richmond amounts an army to retake England and aims to unite the Red and White Rose forever.
