Grease - March 31 - April 03, 2022

Schechter Boston

Letter from the Head of School

Dear friends,

Welcome to a very special night, our triumphant return to a live, in-person all-Hebrew, 8th-grade musical! In fact, Grease marks the 30th anniversary of these beloved productions.

Every year, beginning on the first day of school, our community anticipates this pinnacle of a Schechter education. Now, once again, we join in the breathless excitement of the Class of 2022 as a proud and delighted audience of parents, teachers, friends, grandparents and relatives. Together, we will clap and tap our feet and give standing ovations to the cast and crew of Grease. There is no shortage of exuberance, energy, memorable music and dancing in this spirited, fun-filled musical.

At Schechter, we place great value on creative arts. We are highly intentional about exposing our students to artistic opportunities and fanning their imaginations and talents. Every student from the youngest to oldest has music and art each week, and there are myriad choices to go beyond and do more from bands and choirs to jamming during drop-in music studio or participating in a metals art elective.

Public speaking, feeling comfortable before a group and working collaboratively are baked into our curriculum through tefillah, hevruta-style learning, circle time, hands-on projects and presentations in all subject areas including Hebrew. Our students understand that Hebrew is not just the ancient words of our sacred texts, but is also a modern and dynamic language which they speak, perform and sing beautifully.

Just as with every much-loved production before this, Grease is a big deal in the life of the school. It represents the culmination of each individual person’s contributions and hard work. The many faculty and parent volunteers who have supported our students in this endeavor, comprise the loving, dedicated backbone behind the production. In all, Grease is about bringing together the countless moments in the Schechter experience that make this extraordinary event possible.

Enjoy!
