To the Cast & Crew of Newsies-
What an amazing, challenging, and wonderful year it has been for our musical! I am so very proud of how far you have come from the beginning. This show is a beast - challenging dancing, singing, very deep characters, and creating seamless transitions - and you have risen to the challenge. From the first day of auditions to our last dress rehearsal, every single one of you showed us your hard work and enthusiasm for this show.
Each year I am amazed at how hard you work to make this show successful. You keep up with school work, sports, home life, jobs and come every night after school, and then also on weekends, for long, tiring rehearsals. The time you put into this show always amazes me - thank you for your work ethic.
As this curtain comes to its final close, I just want you to know how extraordinary each and everyone of you are. We had plenty of behind the scenes drama, most of it unknown to you. Your ability to work hard, work as a team, build each other up, and really support and take care of each other made it so your directors were just able to continue to direct, and you didn’t add more drama. We have become a Newsies family, and YOU made it that way. You made working with you every night a highlight of each directors’ day. Even when we were tough on you and made you feel as though what you were doing was never going to be good enough, you pushed yourself a little bit harder, you kept trying, and kept giving it your all. Thank you for making our jobs as directors just a little bit easier.
With great admiration and thanks,
Ms Olin
To our Graduating Seniors…
Mikayla Faas, Jacqui Gerstenberger, Braden Lewandowski, Hannah Meyer, Maddie Phelan, Griffin Sholtes, Abby Uveges, Grace Vogel, and Makaila Van Wie-Adair
Every year, we have the challenging task of saying “see you later” to a wonderful group of young people as they move into their next chapters in life. As I’ve gotten to know this group of students over the past 4 years, I have come to learn that this group is so very genuine and kind. They work very hard to achieve and are so devoted to the process of putting on these shows year after year. Every single one of these seniors will be very missed on this stage as you continue on in your journey.
You bring such an enthusiasm and talent to each and every part you play. You each are daring to try new things, bring perspective to your roles, constantly ask questions, and challenge yourselves. This show is at the caliber it is because of the high standard of excellence you set for it. I have enjoyed working with you over the years as you bring stories, music, and characters to life.
I would be remiss to not include our wonderful behind the scenes seniors:
Alex Cipperly, Emily Dalhin, Jamie Fox, Jed Fox, Konrad Rumph, and Ashley Scofield
Your talents behind the scenes are astounding. You paint sets, control lights and sound, and assist in many other ways. You are leaders and take charge of any challenge that is thrown at you.
Everyone involved in the Schoharie Musicals will miss all of this year’s graduating classes’ talents and personalities. You have set such a fine example for underclassmen of what is expected out of each of them. On behalf of everyone in the cast, crew, and staff, thank you for all you have done for this production, and all your work throughout your years at Schoharie.
With gratitude,
Ms Olin
